As a first-generation Italian-American whose family wanted us to assimilate, I knew there was more to know about where we came from and understand who we are.
I wanted a small family-oriented person or business in Italy–not a large impersonal American organization– to do the work that I couldn’t accomplish on my own. Choosing Southern Italy Travel was one of the best decisions I ever made. Honestly.
Mirella answered my email and helped me find relatives that I was certain didn’t exist. We met in the town where my grandparents and mother were born, helped me find records and details about them, and met new generations, heard stories from them, and began to understand what this small town in Puglia was like 100-200 years ago, and how it tries to succeed in the future. I wanted facts no matter what they would tell me, and I got them.
I am quite pleased and respectful of Mirella’s research and her efforts. Professional, kind, diplomatic, gentle, honest–thank you again.
I’m looking forward to continuing to learn about my ancestry.
