Stefano did a thorough search of my family records in the small town in Southern Italy where my grandfather was born and where he lived until he left to come to the United States in 1906. Until then I only had stories that my grandfather told me when I was a young child and the minimal records I could find on the ancestry search I did from the U.S..
Stefano personally went to my grandfather’s village before we arrived, researched the details of my grandfather’s family and arranged for our visit. When we arrived, Stefano met us in the village center, introduced us to the members of the City Council, and spent the day helping us discover the hidden magic of the village as well as the home where my grandfather and great-grandparents had lived.
Most importantly, thanks to the work Stefano did, the people we met in the village welcomed us with open hearts.
It was a moving experience that touched our souls and left me feeling that, although I was born in the United States, Italy is home to me.
